The main function of public libraries is to provide books for people to read.In a library,there are books on different subjects,such as Chinese history,fine art,science,English literature,and so on.There are also works fo fiction.
The public libraries are crowded with people on weekdays as well as Sundays because many people,especially students who want to consult reference books for their school work,know that they could at least learn something there.
Besides reading in the library,we can also borrow books with library cards.But books on loan had to be returned within a couple of weeks.As far as I know the number of people who borrow books from public libraries is increasing year after year.
I go to the City Hall library twice a month to read.
